International Friendship Day History and significance

International Friendship Day is a celebration of the importance of friendship in our lives. It’s a day to cherish existing friendships and reach out to build new ones.

The idea of a global Friendship Day can be traced back to 1958. There are two contenders for its origin:
Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho, a Paraguayan philosopher, proposed the idea in 1958. He believed a dedicated day to friendship would promote peace and understanding between cultures.
